Deciding to buy a natural stone fireplace is a little like choosing a marriage partner! In both situations, one has fallen in love with a unique entity with all its imperfections, however they may manifest themselves, if indeed they do.
Again, drawing on the same analogy, just as no two beings are identical, so no two pieces of natural stone are exactly the same, though they may very closely resemble one another.
These two facts must be borne in mind when one decides to purchase a natural stone fireplace, whether it be in marble, granite or limestone. Small imperfections are inevitable due to irregular veining, fossil configuration or small cracks which occurred during the formation of the rock millions of year ago. The latter may be left or filled so that they are barely visible to the naked eye.
Obviously we try to match the materials as closely as possible to that which our customers see when they choose their fireplace, but the customer must be aware that no two blocks or pieces of stone will ever be exactly the same in colour or conformation.
Although these differences may be minimal, they ensure, on the other hand, that each fireplace differs from the next, and that every natural stone fireplace is unique.
